Portland Trailblazers point guard Damian Lillard is the star of the latest animated ad from LeBron James' More Than A Vote campaign. Throughout the three-minute ad, Lillard travels through the Bay area as he talks to Phoenix Mercury point guard Skylar Diggins, former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, A$AP Ferg and many others about the importance of voting.
More Than A Vote's "Civics For The Culture" ad is the latest of many moves the organization has made to encourage others to vote. This year, the nonprofit has raised money for Lawyers’ Committee For Civil Rights Under Law, donated $100,000 to the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition and recruited more than 10,000 people to help work the polls on election day.
“We are using our influence to fight voter suppression and we have a lot of different ways to reach people,” James said.
Most recently, More Than A Vote teamed up with Michelle Obama and When We All Vote for a voter drive. The two groups will "provide information, transportation, food, music, personal protective equipment and voter protection support to Americans near early voting sites in cities around the country."
“It’s now up to us to do everything in our power to get our friends and family ready to vote early and safely together,” Michelle Obama stated.
Moving forward, James and More Than A Vote will partner with Uninterrupted and 2K Sports to create two-part digital series about the importance of voting, social injustice and much more. The organization has also partnered with Lyft to offer discounted rides to voters in Harris County who need to drop off their ballots at NRG Arena. With less than three weeks until the election, More Than A Vote is far from finished.
