The third Slutty Vegan restaurant opened Saturday (October 24) in Atlanta’s Edgewood neighborhood. Owner and entrepreneur Pinky Cole started her vegan burger restaurant brand in 2018 with a single food truck.
The popularity of the restaurant rose as its uniquely-named stacked Impossible Burgers offered visitors a new way to experience vegan food.
Cole was able to attract thousands to her food truck and soon opened her first brick-and-mortar restaurant in January of 2019. She used multiple celebrity endorsements to continue to expand the number of visitors who tried her culinary creations.
Beyond the number of guests and popularity though, Slutty Vegan offers a fun and delicious entrée into vegan food for the majority and historically Black neighborhoods in which her restaurants are located.
This third restaurant is located in front of the childhood home of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
During the pandemic, Cole has used the popularity of her restaurant and her nonprofit, The Pinky Cole Foundation, to feed essential workers for free, help get people registered to vote, and is working with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice to provide 30 formerly incarcerated youth with jobs and $10,000 towards their educational pursuits.
Cole also partnered with her alma mater, Clarke Atlanta University, to establish scholarships for the four children of Rayshard Brooks who was killed by police in June.
The restaurant is currently open for takeout and requires guests to wear masks in accordance with coronavirus safety guidelines.
