A federal judge ordered USPS facilities in several battleground states to speed up the delivery of mail-in ballots. One of those facilities is located in Atlanta.
The order mandated a report be provided on their progress by 4:30 p.m. ET. 11Alive News reported at 4:55 p.m. that USPS has failed to meet the deadline for this report.
Additionally, earlier technical glitches delayed voting in several Metro-Atlanta districts. 11Alive Reports that several districts are remaining open passed the 7 p.m. deadline. Information about the districts with extended hours can be found here.
Most districts are keeping their doors open for about 15 - 20 minutes past the scheduled closing time.
Early exit polls released by CNN at 6:54 p.m.ET indicate that Georgia voters are most concerned about the economy, with 36% of respondents citing this as their top issue of their vote. Racial inequality was the second-highest priority with 22% of voters selecting this as their top issue.
The coronavirus was 11% of voters’ top issue. Fifty-two percent of Georgia voters in these exit polls said that containing the coronavirus was a priority, with 42% saying rebuilding the economy was more important.
