Dr. James Phillips let his thoughts be known in a series of now-deleted Twitter posts following Donald Trump’s ride around the facility after testing positive for coronavirus back in October.
He called the stunt by the president, “insanity,” according to a report by CBS.
The news outlet reported that starting January of next year, Dr. Phillips will no longer work at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC).
Dr. Phillips is chief of disaster medicine at George Washington University and reportedly works contractually with Walter Reed.
Officials from Walter Reed told CBS Phillips’ removal is not in connection with the tweets. “Schedules are determined by the contractor. There was no decision made by anyone at WRNMMC to remove Dr. Phillips from the schedule,” a spokesperson said.
Phillips is still on the schedule at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., according to Lisa Anderson, assistant director of media relations there.
Dr. Phillips spoke on CNN International yesterday (December 10), sharing what it’s been like to work firsthand with COVID-19 patients.
