Joe Biden Says It's Time To 'Turn The Page' After Electoral College Victory

President-elect Joe Biden addressed the nation after the Electoral College officially certified his victory over President Donald Trump. Biden sought to reassure Americans that the democratic process worked and that the results of the election were accurate.

He thanked all the election workers for following the rule of law, even as they were put under immense pressure and faced threats of violence. He said that President Trump was afforded all avenues to contest the results of the election and lost every legal battle.

Biden said that it was time for America to move forward and "turn the page" on the election.

"In this battle for the soul of America, democracy prevailed," Biden said. "We, the people, voted. Faith in our institutions held. The integrity of our elections remains intact. And so, now it is time to turn the page. To unite. To heal."

Biden vowed to be a president for all Americans and said he was ready to get to work fighting the coronavirus pandemic and rebuilding the economy.

"There is urgent work in front of all of us," he said. "Getting the pandemic under control to getting the nation vaccinated against this virus. Delivering immediate economic help so badly needed by so many Americans who are hurting today -- and then building our economy back better than ever."
