Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD Foundation announced Tuesday (December 22) they will be providing families and individuals facing evictions and foreclosures with financial assistance.
Throughout this unprecedented year, Beyoncé and the BeyGOOD Foundation have given back to those in need, including providing $10,000 grants to over 250 Black-owned businesses.
“When we were faced with the pandemic caused by COVID-19, BeyGOOD created a plan to make a difference,” the foundation stated in a news release. “We assisted organizations across the country that were providing people with basic needs like food, water household supplies, and COVID testing. We also provided mental health support.”
Now, the entertainer and philanthropist is moving on to Phase Two of the foundation’s Impact Fund, awarding families in need with $5,000 grants.
Officials estimate around 14 million Americans face evictions or foreclosure due to the pandemic's economic strain on households. On December 26, the national moratorium on evictions is set to expire, putting millions at risk for homelessness, during the winter season, and amid a surge in coronavirus cases.
BeyGOOD’s Director, Ivy McGregor shared the news on Instagram.
To receive the money, applicants should submit their documents to the NAACP. The online application will open on January 7, 2021 which will award 100 recipients the grants by late January. A second round will follow in February.
