Newly released documents show a woman claiming to be the girlfriend of Nashville bomber, Anthony Warner, warned police about his bomb making last year.
According to a report by NPR, a police report filed August 2019 says that his girlfriend told authorities he “was building bombs in the RV trailer at his residence.”
On Christmas Day of this year, an RV detonated in downtown Nashville, killing Warner who police say was in the vehicle at the time of the bombing. The blast injured seven people in the area of the bomb.
Police reportedly never contacted Warner about the accusations when the report was filed last year. On Sunday (December 27), the head of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation David Rausch, said that Warner hadn’t been on any law enforcement agency’s radar. Nashville Chief John Drake told news outlets that the city had not been under any threat on Christmas of this year.
A report obtained by The Tennessean and NewChannel 5 indicates that police responded to a call at Warner’s girlfriend’s home in 2019, where her attorney Raymond Throckmorton was also present. Throckmorton told police then that Warner “frequently talks about the military and bomb making.”
Details over follow up between Throckmorton, Warner’s girlfriend, and police remain unclear, however a police spokesperson says the initial report was given to the city’s bomb squad and FBI, which didn’t bring back any data on Warner.
Authorities are still investigating the bombing, including determining a motive.
