Beyonce Launches Pandemic Housing Relief Initiative With NAACP

Beyoncé's housing relief initiative with the NAACP is live.

On Thursday (January 7), the BeyGood Foundation's Impact Fund's online applications opened, allowing those impacted by the housing crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic to apply for $5K grants.

"The NAACP is committed to helping ensure African Americans maintain their wealth and financial security during this unprecedented time of COVID-19," reads a statement on the NAACP website, where the Impact Fund's application can be found. "We are partnering with BeyGOOD to provide one hundred grants up to $5,000 each to families who are delinquent in their home mortgage or rental payments.”

BeyGood announced the housing support initiative last month. "This holiday season while many are stressed with what they will do next regarding their housing, we are proud to share some GOOD news. Beyoncé is giving $5k grants to individuals and families facing foreclosures or evictions," read the announcement posted on BeyGood's social media accounts.

The BeyGood Foundation's housing initiative follows the launch of BeyGOOD's Small Business Impact Fund, which awarded $10K grants to over 250 small Black-owned businesses.

"Beyoncé is continuing her heart of support and helping where needed most. Phase Two of the BeyGOOD Impact Fund will now help those impacted by the housing crisis," read a statement on Bey's website in December. "The housing moratorium is set to end on December 26th, resulting in mortgage foreclosures and rental evictions. Many families are impacted, due to the pandemic that resulted in job loss, sickness and overall economy downturn."

The statement additionally noted that round 2 of BeyGood's housing support impact fund will open in February.
