The Federal Bureau of Investigation has reportedly issued a warning to law enforcement agencies in all 50 states. According to a report from ABC News, the FBI is wary of armed riots that may take place at all 50 state Capitols beginning Saturday. The memo is backed by information from several agencies including the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Defense Department, the U.S. Park Police and the U.S. Marshals Service.
The latest memo comes on the heels of the Capitol Hill riots that took place on January 6. In the wake of five deaths and more than 50 arrests, police presence has increased around the nation's capital. The National Guard expects to have 10,000 officers in Washington, D.C. by the day of the Inauguration. In a change of events, President Donald Trump has also issued an emergency declaration. Through this declaration, the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be able to coordinate its efforts with the Metropolitan Police Department.
“Specifically, FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize, and provide at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency,” the declaration stated.
“Emergency protective measures, limited to direct Federal assistance, will be provided at 100 percent Federal funding.”
The declaration will run from January 11 through January 24. Adding on, the United States Secret Service has planned to expand its efforts leading up to the inauguration of President-Elect Joe Biden.
"We have a zero fail mission," agent Michael Plati said.
"We feel we are prepared to address the challenges presented by that day."
Rounding out the increased national security efforts, a number of rioters who stormed the United States Capitol have been placed on the "no-fly" list. Videos of people being denied seats on flights have been circulating on social media.
