Dave Chapelle tested positive for COVID-19 just before his scheduled comedy show on Thursday (January 21).
According to multiple outlets, the 47-year-old comedian is currently quarantining after his positive test and has not yet suffered any symptoms.
"[Dave's] remaining shows at Stubbs Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin, TX have been canceled and ticket holders should contact their point of purchase for refunds," his rep said in a statement, per The Hollywood Reporter. "[Dave] has safely conducted socially-distanced shows in Ohio since June 2020 and he moved those shows to Austin during the winter. [He] implemented COVID-19 protocols which included rapid testing for the audience and daily testing for himself and his team. His diligent testing enabled him to immediately respond by quarantining, thus mitigating the spread of the virus. [He] is asymptomatic."
Dave performed the first of his five shows in Austin, Texas on Wednesday night (January 20) with the remaining shows scheduled for Thursday, Friday (January 22), Saturday (January 23), and Sunday (January 24). The remaining shows, which were set to feature Joe Rogan, have all been canceled and refunds will be offered to ticketholders, TMZ reported.
Following news of Dave's positive COVID-19 test, Joe apologized for the canceled shows and said they would be rescheduled. He also stated that he "was not exposed to the person who had covid" and has "tested negative every day this week."
An Instagram post earlier this week showed Joe at Stubb's Amphitheater, where the shows were scheduled, with Dave and other celebs including Elon Musk, Grimes, Michelle Wolf, Donnell Rawlings, and Ron White.
