Michelle Obama gathers her crew to kick off a global food journey in the official trailer for Waffles + Mochi. The former First Lady will star alongside a pair of fictional characters, Waffles and Mochi, as they teach young viewers about global culinary cultures and healthy eating habits.
"Waffles and Mochi embark on a global food expedition in order to become chefs. With the help of Mrs. Obama, Waffles and Mochi travel the world, learning all they can about different foods and cultures," Netflix writes.
This is the latest Netflix project from the Obamas. Signing a groundbreaking deal in 2018, the couple agreed to produce a number of projects including a short film highlighting the life of Frederick Douglass. and a miniseries chronicling Michelle Obama's Becoming book tour.
"We created Higher Ground to harness the power of storytelling," former President Barack Obama told The Hollywood Reporter.
"That’s why we couldn’t be more excited about these projects. Touching on issues of race and class, democracy and civil rights, and much more, we believe each of these productions won’t just entertain, but will educate, connect and inspire us all."
The two didn't stop there. Barack Obama has appeared on shows such as The Shop with LeBron James and Desus & Mero on Showtime. Meanwhile, Michelle Obama has started her own podcast. During her first season, she interviewed award-winning journalist Michelle Norris, Conan O'Brien, Valerie Jarrett and of course, Barack Obama.
Michelle Obama's latest project, Waffles + Mochi, will debut on Netflix in March. While viewers wait, the trailer offers a great preview of what young viewers can expect.
