Beyoncé, AOC, And More Share Resources For Texans In Need

The deadly historic winter storm that has ravaged Texas and other southern states continues to leave many without power or safe drinking water.

President Joe Biden declared a federal state of emergency in Texas, releasing aid from FEMA and other government agencies to get water, food, and supplies to those in need. The president is also coordinating with local officials to get generators to businesses.

Celebrities like Houston’s own Beyoncé have shared resources Texas residents can utilize to stay safe and warm throughout the below freezing weather and its aftermath.

Beyoncé’s BEYGOOD Foundation opened applications to provide direct cash payments up to $1,000 to people who are suffering in the storm.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also raised $2 million in relief funds for Texans through advocacy organizations. She posted to Twitter that she’ll be flying to Texas to work with other lawmakers on actionizing aid to residents.

Kerry Washington took to social media to raise awareness about the winter storm and directing help to those living through the chaos. In the post, she pointed to the local Salvation Army for supplies like blankets to keep warm as the temperatures barely rise above freezing in most of southeast Texas.

Ariana Grande posted to her Instagram story, providing a list of city-by-city list of available aid options for Texas residents. Check out the list here

Local restaurants in Houston including the well-known Turkey Leg Hut have helped out by passing out free water to residents in need.

More resources and donations continue to make their way to the people as many look for an end in sight.
