NFL Hall of Fame Cornerback Deion Sanders has won his first game as a college football head coach. Coaching Jackson State University, Sanders led his team to a 53-0 victory over NAIA football program Edward Waters. The Tigers shot out to a fast start with a 31-0 in the first half before finishing off the job in the second half. Jackson State University quarterback Jalon Jones delivered an incredible performance, completing 90% of his passes and throwing for three touchdowns.
After the game, Sanders told reporters that he was proud of his team, but he was upset by something that had taken place in the locker room. The Super Bowl XXX Champion said that a few of his personal items were stolen during the game.
"For one, the kids played really well," Sanders said.
"But while the game was going on, someone came in and stole every darn thing I have in the coaches' office. Credit cards, wallet, watches. Thank god I had on my necklaces."
Shortly after Sanders spoke to reporters, Jackson State University issued a statement regarding the matter. According to school officials, the items were "misplaced" and returned to the office. As the situation developed, Sanders took to Twitter to further clarify
"It was stolen, but they got it back. It was stolen out [of] my personal bag in my office and my assistant caught the gentleman in the process of stealing it, but she was alone. No miscommunication, my man, at all," he tweeted.
With the post-game chaos in the rearview mirror, Jackson State will direct its attention toward Mountain Valley State University. The two schools will face off on February 27 at 3 p.m. ET.
