Tiger Woods has returned to his South Florida home after being treated for injuries he sustained in a horrific car crash last month. In a brief statement, Woods said that he was "so grateful for the outpouring of support and encouragement" he received during this ordeal.
"Thank you to all the incredible surgeons, doctors, nurses and staff at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. You have all taken such great care of me and I cannot thank you enough," Woods stated.
"I will be recovering at home and working on getting stronger every day."
Woods frightening ordeal began during the final days of February. He had spent several days in February offering golf lessons to celebrities like Dwyane Wade. During the week of February 23, he was involved in a one-car accident near the Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes. He was extracted from the vehicle using the jaws of life before being transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Woods was treated for several severe injuries to his leg and ankle before being released to the care of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
"Mr. Woods suffered significant orthopedic injuries to his right lower extremity that were treated during emergency surgery," Anish Mahajan of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center said.
Woods has remained out of the public eye during this traumatic experience. He has issued a series of statements to let fans know that he is recovering well. More recently, he offered a bit of positive news. He will be returning to the video game world. Prior to being released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, he finalized a long-term partnership with 2K Sports to appear in the PGA Tour 2K franchise moving forward. It is the first time he's appeared in the game since 2013.
"I am looking forward to making my return to the video game landscape, and with 2K and HB Studios, I've found the right partners to make it happen. I'm honored to take part in this opportunity and look forward to sharing my expertise and insights as we build the future of golf video games together," Woods said.
Woods continues to recover in South Florida as he hopes to return to full strength in the near future.
