The Talk on CBS has extended its hiatus for a second week following the explosive on-air exchange between Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood. The exchange took place during the March 10 episode of the show and came after Osbourne publicly defended former British talk show host Piers Morgan who dismissed accusations Meghan Markle made during a sit down interview with Oprah Winfrey alongside her husband Prince Harry.
The show went on a hiatus after the network launched an internal review of the episode, and extended it as resurfaced allegations of racism in the workplace against Osbourne resurfaced last week.
It was scheduled to come back Tuesday (March 23), but is entering a second full week of being off the air.
According to Page Six, Osbourne has retained a lawyer, Jeremiah Reynolds, as the network continues its investigation of “racially insensitive and hostile environment.” Reynolds has reportedly worked with Osbourne before on other legal matters and, according to a source, is handling all negotiations with the network.
The outlet first reported that co-host Elaine Welteroth and her hairstylist submitted a complaint to human resources about the work environment, which triggered the investigation. Former colleagues of the show also alleged racism during their time on the show, including Holly Robinson Pete who said Osbourne said she was “too ghetto” to be a co-host of the show.
Osbourne allegedly also used xenophobic and homophobic slurs towards former colleagues, though she denies the claims.
The show is currently running repeats at least until the end of the week while the investigation continues, according to the outlet.
