Steph Curry Dominates In Season Finale, Secures Second Scoring Title

Steph Curry finished off the 2020-2021 NBA season with a bang. With playoff seeding hanging in the balance, Curry scored 46 points as the Golden State Warriors beat the Memphis Grizzlies by 12 points. With 46 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, Curry secured the second scoring title of his illustrious career. His final regular performance boosted his scoring average to 32 points per game while Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards fell just short with 31.3 points per game.

Curry's second scoring title points him in an exclusive company. At 33 years old, he is the oldest player to win an NBA scoring title since Michael Jordan did it in 1998 at 35 years old. Furthermore, he joins Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain as the only players in NBA history to win multiple scoring titles, MVPs and championships.

"He's never been better, I can say that," Golden State Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr said after his team's win on Sunday.

Kerr is no stranger to greatness. He has played alongside all-time great players such as Tim Duncan, David Robinson and Michael Jordan. When he says that Curry is playing at an unbelievable level, it carries a certain weight.

"He's been great for a long time, though, so it's hard to say he's at his best now because he's been like this for years. I think what's different this year is just the supporting cast is different. We've got a much younger team; he's been asked to do a lot more with this group and he's gone above and beyond what we've asked of him."

Curry's performance carried the Warriors team to an important. By beating the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies, the Warriors boosted themselves to the eighth seed in the Western Conference. On Wednesday, the Warriors will battle the Los Angeles Lakers for the seventh seed. The winner will play the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs while the loser will play either the Grizzlies or the San Antonio Spurs for the eighth seed.
