This month marks the seventh anniversary of the day that Starz aired the first episode of Power. Set in New York, the series told the story of James "Ghost" St. Patrick as he attempted to make the transition from the city's biggest drug dealer to a legitimate business mogul. The show earned critical acclaim during its first three seasons and helped further the careers of Naturi Naughton, Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora.

More than a year after the show's final episode aired, the Power universe lives on in the show's four spinoff series. First, Starz debuted Power Book II: Ghost, a series that explores the life St. Patrick's son, Tariq. This summer, Starz will open the door to another world within the Power universe called Raising Kanan. The new series will tell the origin story of St. Patrick's O.G., Kanan.

Getting ready for the debut of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, executive producer Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and Starz rolled out the trailer for the new series. In the first full-length teaser, fans get to see the relationship between Kanan, played by Mekai Curtis, and his mother, Raquel, played by Patina Miller. Michael Epps, Jo-Vaughn "Joey Bada$$" Scott and London Brown also make cameos in the trailer.

Raising Kanan is the second of four spin-off series to come from Power. Power Book IV: Force and Power Book V: Influence are set to be released in the coming years. Jackson is also working on another series called Black Mafia Family that is due out next year.

First up, Power Book III: Raising Kanan is slated to debut on July 18. The trailer is available below.
