Actress Suzzanne Douglas Dies At 64

Actress Suzzanne Douglas has died at the age of 64. News of the star’s death came on Tuesday (July 6) from a reported cousin, Angie Tee, who posted to Facebook

“Suzzanne Douglas a beautiful and talented actress made her transition today. She warmed our hearts on movie screens and television sets all over the world. This beautiful soul was my cousin,” the post read in part.  "The world will miss your talent but your soul will live on forever Rest in Paradise my beautiful cousin Suzzanne you will be missed RIP." No cause of death has been revealed so far. 

Douglas, a native of Chicago, was known for her lead role on the 90s sitcom The Parent ‘Hood, alongside Robert Townsend and most recently starred in When They See Us. She won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture in 1989 for her lead role in Tap, starring Gregory Hines

Douglas also starred in a number of films, including Jason’s Lyric, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, and The Inkwell. In her career, she made a number of guest appearances on shows such as The Parkers, Touched By An Angel, and The Good Wife.

Reagan Gomez, who played Douglas’ daughter on The Parent ‘Hood, retweeted memories from the show posted in tribute earlier this year. 

Jada Pinkett-Smith, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and others tweeted messages of remembrance of Douglas.
