WATCH: 'Space Jam: A New Legacy' Rap Battle Scene Causes Backlash

As we anticipate the Space Jam sequel, the film faces more backlash. In a newly released clip from Warner Brothers, Porky Pig raps under the name, the Notorious P.I.G. in Space Jam: A New Legacy, and the video clip is drawing a lot of criticism on social media.

The sequel will finally be premiering on HBO Max and in theaters on July 16. Just like in the original movie, it will feature Bugs Bunny and his Loony Toon pals teaming up with an NBA all-star for a high-stakes basketball game. But this time, LeBron James plays the starring role, once played by Michael Jordan.

The newly released clip features Porky Pig facing off against Don Cheadle for a rap battle. Daffy Duck enters as his hype man and even refers to him as the "Notorious P.I.G.", clearly a spoof of the late rapper, Notorious B.I.G.

'Space Jam' fans noted that the sequel paid homage to the original film by featuring Porky Pig rap. Others are finding the scene to be so cringe-worthy that they say the Notorious P.I.G. is their new reason not to watch the movie.

As one fan put it, "Bugs Bunny did a rap on the original Space Jam soundtrack so this is nothing new, honestly you watch this for the wacky silly send up of pop culture, why are people expecting anything else."

But the A New Legacy haters have their own opinions. "At first, I thought Space Jam 2 was just going to be a bad blockbuster," wrote one fan on Twitter. "But now I'm thinking ... this thing might be BAD. This might be 2021's answer to Baby Geniuses 2. WB may be sitting on one of those movies that goes down forever on the shortlist of the worst of all time."

No matter what your opinion, I'm sure this isn't the type of press the movie hoped for. I still totally plan on seeing it and I happen to think the rap battle is kind of funny. What do you think?
