Muhammad Ali's grandson, Nico Ali Walsh, made quite a splash into the world of professional boxing on Saturday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In his pro boxing debut, Walsh knocked out Jordan Weeks in the first round. Overcome with joy, Walsh immediately celebrated with his mother, Rasheeda, and close family friend, William "Flava Flav" Drayton Jr.

"I'm blessed and honored to say that I continued history," Walsh said.

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone that supported me! I brought my grandfather in the ring with me by wearing his shorts for the first and final time as a professional fighter. I'm more than proud to say: The Legacy Continues."

It was incredible to see Walsh extend his grandfather's legacy, but it would be unfair to compare the two. Ali entered the pro ranks after an extensive amateur career that ended with an Olympic gold medal. However, the two do have a few things in common. Moments before finishing off his pro debut, Walsh raised his hand in the air much like his grandfather used to do. Also, Walsh has the assistance of a legendary trainer, SugarHill Steward. Steward has helped guide the careers of former light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson and current heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Similarly, Ali worked with Angelo Dundee, who trainer Sugar Ray Leonard and George Foreman. Above all else, Walsh and Ali share the same promoter, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum. Arum promoted 27 of Ali's fights along with Walsh's pro debut.

"What a magical night for this young man. His grandfather would have been so proud of the way he’s honoring him in his own way. We at Top Rank are looking forward to leading him on his professional journey," Arum tweeted.

It is unclear what Walsh's next step is, but it is clear he intends to take this opportunity seriously. The pro boxer plans to fight again in the near future under Top Rank promotion.
