After 33 years of marriage, Sonya Curry has reportedly filed for divorce from Dell Curry. Reports suggest that Sonya Curry filed for divorce in June, but it is unclear what led to their divorce.

"After exploring a trial separation over the past year and much thoughtful consideration, we have decided to end our marriage. As this comes with a great deal of sadness, our focus and desire is for our family's continued happiness," the couple told PEOPLE.

"We are so thankful for all the many blessings and successes! We stay committed to and supportive of our children and grandchildren and will remain on connected paths. We ask that our privacy be respected and pray for our family as we move forward."

Both Sonya and Dell Curry have been a part of the sports world for more than 30 years. The two met as student-athletes at Virginia Tech University before dating and eventually getting married in 1988. Dell Curry rose to prominence in the 1980s after being drafted into the NBA and MLB. Ultimately, he decided to play in the NBA, where he had a 16-year career that included an NBA Sixth Man of the Year award. Meanwhile, Sonya Curry pursued a career in education and helped found the Christian Montessori School of Lake Norman in North Carolina. She currently serves as the president of the school.

Together, Sonya and Dell Curry raised three kids together -- Steph, Seth and Sydell. Sydell played college volleyball at Elon University while majoring in psychology before being forced to retire due to injuries. Her youngest brother, Seth, played college basketball at Liberty University and Duke University before entering the NBA in 2013 as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies. Most notably, Steph Curry has played in the NBA for 12 years while earning two NBA MVP awards and three NBA titles.
