A mother will go to great lengths to protect her child from danger, but that unconditional love may lead an Alabama woman into serious legal trouble. On Wednesday, Jonathan Hardison of FOX 6 in Birmingham reported that 37-year-old Nannatt Waldrop was arrested after she confronted an 11-year-old student accused of bullying her child. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has reportedly charged her with third-degree simple assault, trespassing on a school bus and disorderly conduct/disturbing the peace/affray.

AL.com reports that the incident took place on September 14 at approximately 7:18 a.m. After learning that her child was being bullied by another child, Waldrop allegedly boarded a school bus to confront the young student. From there, an altercation ensued and she was booked shortly thereafter. Jefferson County Schools are aware of the incident and are currently investigating the matter.

“We are aware of the video circulating on social media of a fight that occurred on one of our school buses Tuesday morning,” Jefferson County Superintendent Walter Gonsoulin said in a statement obtained by WVTM-13 News.

“I want to be very clear: this type of behavior is unacceptable, and it will not be tolerated … While this is now a law enforcement matter, let me just say what I saw on that video deeply disturbs me. At no point is any type of violence acceptable, especially violence against students. We have been and will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement.”

At this time, it is unclear if the parents of the 11-year-old child will also press charges. Meanwhile, Waldrop was bailed out and will await her next court date.
