Donald Trump was defeated in a lawsuit against his former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman.
A New York judge ruled Monday (September 27) that the non-disclosure agreement the former president had with Manigault Newman is "unenforceable."
The battle started after Manigault Newman wrote and published a tell-all memoir about her time inside Trump's presidency entitled, Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump's White House. Trump's campaign filed the lawsuit in 2018 accusing the former aide of breaching a contract she signed in 2016.
The judge, T. Andrew Brown, described the terms of the agreement as "highly problematic" because they didn't follow typical legal standards, adding that it was "vague, indefinite, and therefore void and unenforceable," per NBC News.
"The Agreement effectively imposes [Manigault Newman] an obligation to never say anything remotely critical of Mr. Trump, his family or his or his family members' businesses for the rest of her life," Brown said in the decision.
Manigault Newman and her attorney released a statement Tuesday (September 28) to celebrate the legal battle victory.
"Clearly, I am very happy with this ruling," she said. "Donald has used this type of vexatious litigation to intimidate harass and bully for years! Finally the bully has met his match!"
