Dear White People Executive Producer Jaclyn Moore has announced that she will no longer work with Netflix after the streaming platform debuted Dave Chappelle's "dangerously transphobic" comedy special.

"I told the story of my transition for Netflix and Most's Pride week. It's a network that's been my home on Dear White People. I've loved working there. I will not work with them as long as they continue to put out and profit from blatantly and dangerously transphobic content," Moore tweeted.

"I love so many of the people I've worked with at Netflix. Brilliant people and executives who have been collaborative and fought for important art. But I've been thrown against walls because, 'I'm not a 'real' woman.' I've had beer bottles thrown at me. So, Netflix, I'm done."

Moore is not the only person or organization to voice their frustrations with Chappelle's new comedy special, The Closer. Recently, GLAAD issued a statement condemning his recent work as well.

"Dave Chappelle's brand has become synonymous with ridiculing trans people and other marginalized communities. Negative reviews and viewers loudly condemning his latest special is a message to the industry that audiences don't support platforming anti-LGBTQ diatribes," the advocacy group tweeted.

A number of groups and public figures have slammed Chappelle because of comments he made regarding LGBTQIA+ communities around the world. Most notably, he defended comments that Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling made about sex and gender in June 2020.

"They canceled J.K. Rowling – my God," Chappelle said.

"Effectively, she said gender was a fact, the trans community got mad as f---, they started calling her a TERF."

TERF is a term often used to describe a person who fashions themselves as a feminist, but acts or speaks in a way that can be harmful to transwomen. Instead of distancing himself from the label of TERF, Chappelle leaned into it.

"I'm Team TERF. I agree. I agree, man. Gender is a fact," he continued.

Immediately after his special debuted on Netflix, a number of people shared the sentiments that Moore and GLAAD have expressed.

Despite the pushback that Chappelle's The Closer has received, Netflix has not indicated that it will remove the special from its platform.
