Disney has announced that Rise, a film chronicling the life of reigning NBA Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and his family, will debut next year. Uche Agada will play the lead role of a young Giannis Antetokounmpo while Ral Agada, Jaden Osimuwa and Elijah Shomanke portray his three brothers. Dayo Okeniyi and Yetide Badaki will play his parents, Charles and Vera Antetokounmpo.
"Rise [is a story about] how one family's vision, determination and faith lifted them out of obscurity to launch the career of three NBA champions," a description of the film reads, according to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The film will also take a look into the NBA Champion's early years in Greece, battling to get citizenship, his passion for basketball and much more.
"I am thrilled and honored that Disney+ is bringing my family's story to people all over the world. My hope is that it will inspire those in similar circumstances to keep the faith, stay true to their goals and not to give up on striving for a better life," Antentokounmpo added.
Disney's announcement comes one day after Giannis Antetokounmpo received his first championship ring alongside his brother, Thanasis. The team alson hung its first championship banner in more than 40 years before taking down the Brooklyn Nets by 23 points.
"He hasn't taken his ring off," the two-time NBA MVP told reporters after Tuesday night's win.
"He went to the cold tub with his ring. He got treatment with his ring. He put it on his pinkie, then he switched and put it on his thumb. He kept opening it and closing it and taking pictures. That's the awesome part of this."
The Bucks will continue their title defense on Thursday against the Miami Heat.
