Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson is on track to be confirmed next week, according to reports.
Last week, Judge Jackson endured four days of back-to-back confirmation hearings where she faced tense questioning about her resume, Critical Race Theory, her religious beliefs, and a now-best-selling children's book.
The Senate Judiciary committee on Monday (March 28) formally scheduled a vote to decide to push her nomination through for Monday (April 4), The Washington Post reported. From there, a Senate floor vote will be held where Judge Jackson is expected to be confirmed as the first Black woman to serve on the nation's high court by the end of the week.
All 50 Democrats and Independents in the Senate are expected to vote for Jackson's confirmation, and with Vice President Kamala Harris' tie-breaking voting powers, the confirmation is virtually guaranteed, The Post reported.
All eyes will be on how many Republican votes Judge Jackson picks up. Several, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Ted Cruz, and Lindsey Graham announced they will be voting against Jackson –– without providing explanation on her qualifications.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin says he's "still hopeful" that Judge Jackson will receive some bipartisan support in the floor vote. "I still think there's a chance," Durbin told The Post.
