At least seven people were wounded after gunfire erupted in three different locations across Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Sunday night (May 15).

According to CBS News, police first responded to a shooting around 7:50 p.m. near Fairview Park where more than 50 spent shell casings "from different caliber weapons" were found on the road. While authorities were investigating the matter, two gunshot victims, ages 30 and 36 were found off of Highway 52 North near the 25th Street Exit, WXII 12 News reported.

The victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries to the face and head "consistent" with being struck by projectiles from a moving vehicle, authorities said.

While helping the victims previously mentioned, officers received word of an additional four gunshot victims off of East 25th Street ages 31, 31, 21, and 44. A seventh victim, aged 24, from that same location, had taken themselves to a local hospital.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, the Winston-Salem Police Department told the news outlet. While an investigation into the shootings is ongoing, police believe initially that the shootings appear to be linked.

Law enforcement authorities do not believe the shootings were a "random act of violence," according to WXII 12 News.

No suspect or suspects or any possible motive for the shootings have been revealed. The cars involved in the shootings are described as a white four-door BMW and a black Dodge Charger.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to reach out to the Winston-Salem Police Department at 336-773-7700.
