The man accused of fatally shooting Nipsey Hussle is now facing trial more than three years after the rapper's death, CBS Los Angeles reports.
On Thursday (June 2), Eric Holder Jr., the suspected gunman, began his trial in front of a jury for his connection to Hussle's 2019 murder. A shooting in March of 2019 left the Grammy-nominated artist dead and two others injured outside of Hussle's clothing store in Los Angeles.
Reports say the shooting took place following a verbal confrontation where Hussle is said to have called Holder a "snitch." Holder fled the scene of the crime, which left Hussle, 33, with 11 gunshot wounds.
Police found Holder two days after the shooting when the woman who drove the get-away vehicle turned herself in.
According to CBS Los Angeles, Holder's trial was delayed multiple times due to the coronavirus pandemic. Holder's original indictment in May 2019 determined the suspect used two guns during the shooting with which he fired multiple shots.
The 32-year-old faces one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. His trial is expected to span up to four weeks.
