A white Republican backed by former President Donald Trump believes the root of mass shootings in America stems from the Black community, per the Daily Beast.
During an April 11th podcast appearance, Arizona Senate candidate Blake Masters blamed the nation's gun violence problem on "Black people, frankly."
“We do have a gun violence problem in this country, and it’s gang violence,” Masters said on the “Jeff Oravits Show.” “It’s people in Chicago, St. Louis shooting each other. Very often, you know, Black people, frankly. And the Democrats don’t want to do anything about that.”
Masters, a believer in the Great Replacement Theory, also claimed that Democrats “don’t like the Second Amendment” because “it frankly blocks a lot of their plans for us.”
According to RollingStone, Masters has touted conspiracy theories, racism, and gun advocacy throughout his campaign.
“The Second Amendment is not about duck hunting,” Masters said in one of his campaign videos adding “the first thing the Taliban did when Joe Biden handed them Afghanistan” was “[take] away people’s guns.”
The Arizona Senate candidate told Jeff Oravits during his podcast appearance that Los Angeles and San Francisco are among U.S. cities that have "legalized crime."
“They talk about crime but I find it crocodile tears,” Masters said. “Because if they were actually tough on crime they would get serious about gang violence.”
