A 10-year-old girl is being recognized for her bravery and courage after helping her mom deliver a baby at their Missouri home.
On Wednesday (November 16), Miracle Moore, 10, was honored for her heroism at a ceremony with the county dispatchers who talked her through the steps to successfully deliver her baby sister at home, per the New York Post.
Moore's mother, Viola Fair, went into labor three weeks early on October 22. With no time to travel to the hospital, Moore called 911 for assistance.
Dispatcher Scott Stranghoener helped the young girl through the birthing process during a 10-minute call, and, as a result, her new sister Jayla was successfully brought into the world.
“She followed all of my instructions to a T,” Stranghoener told KPLR. “And … a few minutes later, we had another baby girl in the house.”
After delivering her sister, Moore said she wants to become a doctor.
“I want to be a doctor,” the 10-year-old said at the ceremony, pointing to the uniformed paramedics, per KTVI. “I want to be that kind of doctor.”
During the ceremony, Moore also was honored with a certificate for the bravery and courage she displayed.
“It was definitely a miracle because once I had the baby, she came out, I couldn’t really grab her and pick her up, and then Miracle came and she wrapped her up in a towel,” Fair said of her daughter. “She wiped her off and rubbed her back a little bit, so she could cry. So she was really helpful. I am very thankful."
