A 25-year-old man who garnered national attention as a teenager when he impersonated a doctor to defraud a patient has been sentenced to prison for a new scam.
According to the Associated Press, Malachi Love-Robinson, 25, was sentenced to over two years and four months after being accused of stealing over $10,000 from his employer in Palm Beach County, Florida. He pleaded guilty to grand theft and organized scheme to defraud.
According to court documents, Love-Robinson was a salesperson for a company that connects shippers with trucking companies in 2020 when he had customers send payments to accounts he controlled, instead of his employer.
Love-Robinson initially made headlines as an 18-year-old teenager who opened The New Birth New Life Medical Center and identified himself as "Dr. Love." During his scheme, Love-Robinson stole $30,000 from a patient in her 80s and $20,000 from a doctor. He was ultimately arrested in 2016 after he prescribed treatment to an undercover cop impersonating a patient.
While out on bail, Love-Robinson was again arrested in 2016 after he attempted to buy a Jaguar with a stolen credit card.
He pleaded guilty in both cases and was released from prison in 2019, per the Associated Press.
