Tyla made history at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

On Sunday (February 4), Tyla took home the trophy for Best African Music Performance for her hit "Water" at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.

This is the category's inaugural year at the Grammys. Tyla was nominated for Best African Music Performance alongside ASAKE & Olamide, Burna Boy, Davido featuring Musa Keys and Ayra Starr.

"I never thought I'd say I won a Grammy at 22 years old," Tyla said after accepting the award. "Thank you to the Recording Academy for this category. It's so important."

Best African Music Performance is among three new categories that debuted at the 2024 Grammys. Inaugural awards were doled out for Best Alternative Album and Best Pop Dance Record, which was won by Australian pop star Kylie Minogue for "Padam Padam."

“Water” is set to be featured on the singer's debut album, Tyla, which comes out next month.
