The mother of LSU football star Brian Thomas Jr. went viral after her son was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
On Thursday (April 25), Thomas, a wide receiver, went No. 23 overall to the Jaguars at the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit.
Thomas' mom, Sondra, went viral for delivering a literal answer during an interview with ABC reporter Laura Rutledge following the pick.
"Sondra, how far has this family come?" Rutledge asked.
"We came from Baton Rouge, Louisiana," Sondra responded.
The reporter quickly moved on to her next question after Sondra's deadpanned response.
Social media users joked about the new NFL mom's literal comment.
"Brian Thomas' mother with the best interview answer of the night," one X account tweeted with a laughing emoji.
"Not a single lie was told 😂," another X user said.
The Jags traded down six spots to draft Thomas Jr. at No. 23 overall. The wide receiver, who had 17 receiving touchdowns last season, is projected to be a weapon for franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
"Just my ability to use my speed, be able to get open and create space on defenders," Thomas said of his skill set after going in the first round of the draft. "I would say that's a big role I played."
