A San Antonio teacher has been fired after being accused of using the N-word in class and engaging in unequal disciplinary action against Black students.
The firing comes after X user @hennytwote posted a series of tweets alleging that his niece's math teacher hurled a racial slur at Bradley Middle School. In a TikTok video, the social media user explained that the teacher, identified as Rebecca Woodland, said the N-word after showing her class the movie Hidden Figures.
“They didn’t hire n****rs back then," Woodland allegedly said.
The X user also claimed that his niece and Black peers were "often over-policed more than their white peers” and "bullied" by Woodland.
The middle school student's uncle headed a letter to the principal and district superintendent asking officials to launch an investigation into the teacher, to condemn the incident, and to enforce anti-racism policies.
North East ISD recently announced that an investigation into the teacher had concluded, per My San Antonio.
"As of today, we have completed our investigation and the teacher in question will not return to Bradley or be employed anywhere within our district," a statement from the district read.
