Police have made a major discovery in the disappearance of a Chicago woman at a yoga retreat in the Bahamas.
On Wednesday (June 26), Royal Bahamas Police Force Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings said the cellphone of Taylor Casey, 41, was found in the ocean, per CNN.
Casey was last seen on June 19 on Paradise Island in Nassau, where she traveled to attend the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat. The retreat confirmed Casey's disappearance after she didn't show up for class on June 20.
Police said they've been using drones, search-and-rescue dogs, and divers and checking surveillance footage to find Casey.
“We have conducted extensive investigation into the matter,” Skippings said in a statement. “Our priority is to find Taylor and to find Taylor in good health.”
Casey's mother, Colette Seymore, shared a statement on the "Find Taylor Casey" Facebook page amid her daughter's disappearance.
"We are deeply concerned for Taylor's safety and well-being," Seymore said. “We love Taylor and want her home.”
“I believe Taylor is in danger because she was eager to share her yoga retreat experience with others upon her return,” she continued. “Taylor would never disappear like this.”
Family members said Casey, a yoga practitioner of 15 years, attended the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat as part of her “long-term goal of deepening her practice."
