Fashion designer Marc Jacobs praised Black women for paving the way for his nail journey.

Jacobs shared a video on Instagram Monday (July 1) where he saluted Black women who have made a statement and expressed themselves through their nails.

During the video, Jacobs appeared to be working in a design room when asked about his new nails, which were long white tips with rhinestones.

"I want to show some respect, love, appreciation, and admiration, give flowers to the Black women who in the 70s and 80s used their nails to express their creativity," Jacobs said in the video. "It's their culture and their history that allows me today to enjoy my nail journey."

The video came on the same day as Jacobs' Fall 2024 fashion show in New York City. The fashion designer was photographed with Cardi B, who appeared at the show wearing a custom purple and yellow dress from Jacob's Spring 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection.

In his Instagram post, Jacobs personally thanked several "creative" Black women who have inspired his nail journey.

"Thank you Flo-Jo, Lil Kim, Missy, Sha'Carri and all the beautiful, creative Black women who paved the way. Flowers, admiration, and infinite respect to you," Jacobs captioned his post.
