Two white men launched a racist attack against a Black mayor during a city council meeting in Lawrence, Kansas.

The July 9 attack stemmed from a lawsuit filed by Michael Eravi, who alleged that his rights were violated when he was trespassed from a city-supported homeless camp in Lawrence, per Lawrence Journal-Word. Eravi requested Judge Julie Robinson to amend his lawsuit during the July 9 meeting.

Robinson dismissed the suit with prejudice, prompting Eravi to berate Mayor Bart Littlejohn, one of two Black people on the city's council.

“Trust me, Bart, if you were the only colored person on that dais, I would be saying what I wanna say right now,” Eravi said.

The man then went on to hurl racial slurs and make remarks about slavery.

“Oh, f*** you and your smile. I’m not your field ni****, bi***” Eravi said.

When Littlejohn asked Eravi to leave, the man responded: “You can’t ask me to leave. That’s protected speech. I am not your field ni****.”

“Son of a bi***... he [Littlejohn] wants to remove me because of my speech, that he has instigated all f*cking night in here,” Eravi continued.

Eravi's tirade ended with Littlejohn calling a five-minute recess. However, when the council returned, another white man took the podium and attacked the council.

“Y’all mother f***ers are so f*king soft. A f*king word shuts down the meeting?” the second man said.

“It is letters together that form a word that comes out of our mouth, and you can’t tolerate that?” he continued, referring to Eravi's N-word use.

As the council refused to respond, the man continued on his tirade, comparing the N-word to "cracker" and "honky."

The attack ended with the man walking out of the meeting.
