Team USA track and field star Gabby Thomas has earned her first Olympic gold medal.

On Tuesday (August 6), Thomas took home the gold in the 200-meter women's final at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Thomas finished Tuesday's race with a time of 21.83, emerging as the clear gold medalist. The track star beat St. Lucia's Julien Alfred, who took home the silver medal in the 200m after winning gold in the 100m final at the 2024 Olympics.

Thomas also faced fellow Team USA sprinters Brittany Brown, who earned the bronze in the 200m, and McKenzie Long.

Tuesday's race comes after Thomas earned a bronze medal during her Olympic debut in Tokyo. Thomas was a favorite to take home the gold at this year's games after she won her semifinal heat with a time of 21.86 seconds, the fastest among all other competitors in the event.

Thomas' gold medal marks the first time an American has won the 200m final since Allyson Felix in the 2012 London Olympics.
