2 Teens Charged With Murder In Killing Of High School Football Player

A shooting left an Alabama high school football player dead and another teen injured, per AL.com.

16-year-old Javion Gray, a student at Loachapoka High School, was found dead last week following a shooting in Notasulga, Alabama. A second student, a 17-year-old teenager, was also injured in the shooting and hospitalized. The 17-year-old reportedly sustained a wound to the foot.

On Monday (August 12), 18-year-olds Elijah Rogers and Barthonia Howard were arrested on charges of murder and attempted murder in connection to the shooting.

Gray's high school football coach, Branden Hall, confirmed his death in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

"I love you Gary!! You always had a smile on your face and you always made me smile! Keep smiling down on us! We won’t ever forget you. Til I see you again keep making them laugh," Hall captioned a photo of Gray.

According to reports, Rogers and Howard were booked without bond into the Tuscaloosa County Jail. The 18-year-olds are set to be tried as adults.
