A 23-year-old man has been arrested after a missing engineer's remains were found in an Arizona desert, PEOPLE reports.

Samuel Bush, 23, was arrested last week on murder charges in connection to the death of 24-year-old Alijah Bradley, who was announced missing on August 15 in Gilbert, Arizona.

Authorities found Bradley's remains in a desert area near the town of Gila Bend on August 19. Bradley's death was determined to be a homicide.

The engineer's family said he was last seen on August 12, the day after his birthday. A family member said Bradley was reported missing after he didn't show up for work and also failed to call his mother, which was out of character for him.

Bush and Bradley were reportedly childhood friends.

"We know that Alijah and Samuel were known to each other for many years prior to the homicide," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

A GoFundMe was launched to raise money for funeral expenses.

“Alijah was known for his free spirit and wild soul, and his loss is deeply felt by all who knew him,” the fundraiser reads.
