Burglars attempted to break into the home of Jussie Smollett's mom, according to reports.

On Monday (October 7), Smollett's mom, Janet, had her Los Angeles home nearly burglarized by two perpetrators, sources told TMZ.

The two perpetrators reportedly showed up to Janet's house and attempted to smash the back door open. The suspects weren't able to enter the residence but caused $300 worth of damage to a window.

According to reports, Janet went outside and confronted the two attempted burglars after hearing a noise. The suspects fled the scene.

Jussie reportedly rushed to his mother's home to make sure everything was okay following the incident. Police are investigating the attempted burglary and looking for the suspects.

The incident comes as Jussie is appealing his sentence of 150 days in jail after he was convicted by a trial jury in 2021 on five counts of felony disorderly conduct for filing a false report about being the target of a hate crime.

The former "Empire" star previously told police that he was attacked by two men wearing MAGA hats on a Chicago street. It was later revealed that the alleged attack was a hoax, though Jussie has continued to maintain his innocence.
