Foot Locker is partnering with Rock The Vote to provide voter registration services at all of its U.S. locations this week. In all, this will allow for more than 2,000 stores to become voter registration sites. The company has also launched a voter registration portal on its official website.
"In a year marked with such uncertainty, amid a pandemic and social unrest, our country's future – and our collective role in shaping it – has never been more important," Foot Locker CEO Richard Johnson said.
Foot Locker's latest effort coincides with National Voter Registration Day on September 22, 2020. The nonpartisan campaign kicked off in 2012 and has been able to register 3 million voters.
"At Foot Locker, our mission is to inspire and empower youth culture, so partnering with Rock The Vote was a natural fit to help educate and amplify the voices of today's youth," Johnson continued.
"The Foot Locker, Inc. family of brands reach millions of young people every day, giving them a tremendous platform to empower this generation with the information they need to vote in this election," Rock The Vote President Carolyn DeWitt added.
"We, at Rock the Vote, are eager to leverage their longstanding, trusted relationship with America's youth generation to ensure their voices are heard," she finished.
Foot Locker is just the latest player to get involved in the movement to register voters. Throughout the year, the NBA, Facebook and a number of other unconventional outlets have joined in to offer voter registration services. This year, registered voters can take to the nearest polling site on November 3 or choose to vote by mail.
