Trump Says His Supreme Court Nominee List Is Down To Five People

President Donald Trump is moving forward and plans to nominate a replacement for the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. President Trump told Fox & Friends that he has narrowed his shortlist down to five names. While Trump declined to list any of the names he was considering, he did weigh in on what he is looking for in his nominee.

"We tend to go young, and I think in almost all cases, you could have somebody be on the bench for 40 or 50 years," he said. "We're looking for somebody who's brilliant, really understands the law and abides by the Constitution, and a good person, we're looking for a good person."

Trump said he plans to announce his nominee later in the week, following the services for Ginsburg.

"I think it will be on Friday or Saturday, and we want to pay respect, it looks like we will have services on Thursday or Friday, as I understand it, and I think we should, with all due respect for Justice Ginsburg, wait for services to be over," the president said.

President Trump urged the Senate to hold the vote to confirm his nominee before the presidential election on November 3.

"Look, the bottom line is we won the election. We have an obligation to do what's right and act as quickly as possible. We should act quickly because we're gonna have probably election things involved here because of the fake ballots that they'll be sending out," Trump said.
