Michelle Obama Sounds Off On Donald Trump's Recently Leaked Phone Call

Michelle Obama has not only encouraged Georgia residents to get out and vote, but she has also taken aim at President Donald Trump. In a lengthy thread, she told voters to get to their local polling places because their vote is part of their voice.

"Your vote is your voice. It’s your power. And right now, from the President of the United States on down, we’re seeing and hearing just how desperate some are to take that power away. They want us to believe that their pride is more important than our democracy," Obama wrote.

As Obama developed her thread, she began to allude to President Donald Trump's recently leaked phone conversation with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. During the one-hour conversation, Trump accused the Secretary of State of engaging in voter fraud and repeatedly asked him to overturn the results of November's election.

"And this is just unconscionable at a time when a staggering number of Americans are dying every day from a virus that was downplayed for far too long. It’s unconscionable to focus on overturning an election rather than helping struggling families or distributing a vaccine," she continued.

She is not the only person in her household to publicly take issue with the President's recent action. Yesterday, Barack Obama alluded to the recently leaked phone conversation.

"We’re seeing how far some will go to retain power and threaten the fundamental principles of our democracy. But our democracy isn’t about any individual, even a president—it’s about you," the former President tweeted.

Voters across the state will have an opportunity to cast their ballots today. The results of the state's runoff Senate election will determine the balance of power within Congress. It may also determine the trajectory of President-Elect Joe Biden's first two years as President. Polls will begin to close at 7 p.m. and results will be available shortly thereafter.
