CBS Studios is reportedly working on an animated reboot of Everybody Hates Chris. Everybody Hates Chris Co-Creators Chris Rock and Ali LeRoi are leading the animated reboot. Michael Rotenberg is also working on the show as an executive producer. Casting for the show has not been shared, but Rock will narrate the reboot like he did the original series.
The original series debuted on UPN in 2005 with a cast that included Tyler James Williams, Tequan Richmond, Imani Hakim, Tichina Arnold, Paige Hurd and Terry Crews. It moved to The CW in 2006 where it remained for three seasons. During the show's 88-episode run, it earned one Golden Globe nomination, three Emmy nominations and more than two dozen NAACP Image Awards nominations.
In addition to an Everybody Hates Chris reboot, CBS Studios is also working on another show called Panther Baby. Panther Baby is inspired by a memoir written by Jamal Joseph about a young, Black boy entering the Black Panther Party movement in Harlem during the 1960s. Joseph is writing the series and Gina Prince-Bythewood will direct the series. Reggie Rock Bythewood, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Scott Frank will executive produce the show. Panther Baby is expected to land at Starz. It is the latest project to highlight the history of the Black Panther Party movement. Released in February, Judas and the Black Messiah put a spotlight on Black Panther Party leader Fred Hampton. It was recently nominated for "Best Picture" at the 93rd Academy Awards.
At this time, CBS Studios has not yet set a release date for the animated Everybody Hates Chris reboot or Panther Baby.
