Theory That Beyoncé, Jay-Z Purchased Notorious B.I.G. Crown Swarms The Web

A new theory has captivated social media users and members of the "Beyhive." Some believe that The Carters, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, may have bought the crown Notorious B.I.G. wore in a well-known portrait taken in 1997.

Following Beyoncé’s epic night at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, the singer superstar posted pictures of her trophies and of her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, who also won big during the night.

One of the photos Beyoncé shared included a pic of nine-year-old Blue drinking out one of the Grammy awards with a straw and wearing a crown some believe is the same that the late rap icon.

The theory is just that, though, since whether the crowns are the same hasn’t been confirmed. Back in September 2020, the B.I.G. crown was sold at Sotheby’s Auction House for $594,750

Some also recalled that in his 2014 Grammy acceptance speech, Jay-Z told the crowd, “I want to tell Blue, ‘Daddy got a gold sippy cup for you.’” The rap mogul earned the Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration that year.

Theory aside, Blue Ivy made history with her win, becoming the second youngest person to receive a Grammy award. Her mom, too, made history, becoming the most decorated vocalist in Grammy history with 28 awards. Jay-Z has 23 Grammy awards.
