Actor Idris Elba signed a multi-book deal with HarpersCollins to publish a variety of children’s books. The deal reportedly includes provisions for fiction and picture books for kids that the Daddy’s Little Girls actor created with his writing partner Robyn Charteris.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the books are scheduled to be released in 2022.
“I feel privileged to have the opportunity to bring stories inspired by my daughter to life with my incredible partner Robyn Charteris, and the powerhouse team at HarperCollins,” Elba said in a post to Twitter.
Charteris’ resume includes several credits with BAFTA-winning children series as well as being a consultant for toy maker Mattel and Lego. Charteris also holds a master’s degree in playwriting.
“Idris Elba is one of the most iconic and multi-talented creatives of his generation and I am delighted that he is joining the HarperCollins Children’s Books list,” Ann-Janine Murtagh, Executive Publisher of HarperCollins Children’s Books UK said. “From the outset, Idris had a very clear vision of the characters and stories he has imagined, and is passionate about creating books that will appeal to all children.”
