Jordan Brand Provides $1 Million Grants To Grassroots Organizations

In the midst of widespread protests against oppression and racism, Michael Jordan and the Jordan Brand decided to make a change. As a result, the Jordan Brand pledged to invest $100 million in the Black community over the course of ten years.

“Through our Jordan Wings Program, we have been focused on providing access to education, mentorship and opportunity for Black youth facing the obstacles of systemic racism. But we know we can do more," Jordan Brand President Craig Williams stated.

"In addition to the investment from NIKE Inc., we are announcing a joint commitment from Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand to donate $100 million over the next 10 years. We must join forces with the community, government and civic leaders to create a lasting impact together. There is still more work for us to do to drive real impact for the Black Community. We embrace the responsibility."

Nearly a year later, the Jordan Brand has made the next step in advancing its $100 million fund. This Spring, the brand will launch the "Community Grants" initiative to provide $1 million grants to grassroots organizations.

“Since announcing our commitment to the Black community in June of 2020, we’ve been focused on two things — action and impact,” Williams said.

“I’m excited about the impact these grants will have in local communities. We know that when we create positive change for the Black community, it benefits everyone.”

Led by the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, applications for the "Community Grants" program will open up in April. The Jordan Brand encourages "organizations working to improve outcomes for the Black community" to apply. All applicants must have an operating budget of less than $3 million. After applications are submitted, members of the Jordan Brand and Michael Jordan Family Office will review proposals and award grants.
