Writer and comedian Ziwe Fumudoh is gearing up to take a major step in her fast-rising career. Fumudoh has delivered the trailer for her upcoming series on Showtime, Ziwe.
"Writer, comedian and performer, Ziwe, brings her singular, riotously funny, no-holds-barred brand to Showtime with her new eponymous late-night variety show, Ziwe," the network wrote in the description.
"Ziwe is the riotously funny, new variety series from writer, comedian and internet sensation, Ziwe. A no-holds-barred mix of musical numbers, interviews and sketches that challenge America’s discomfort with race, politics, & other cultural issues."
Fumudoh is the writer behind some of Showtime's most successful comedy series in recent memory. She has added her comedic stylings to Our Cartoon President and Desus & Mero. In addition, she has contributed to The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and The Onion. Not to mention, she regularly produces comedic animated music videos through her popular, self-titled Youtube Channel. Moving forward, she will work as writer for the Apple TV+ series, Dickinson.
Fumudoh will work as the series' show runner. Meanwhile, A24 will help produce the show. In the past, A24 has spearheaded a number of successful series including Euphoria, The Carmichael Show, 2 Dope Queens, Random Acts of Flyness, Ramy and Pod Save America.
The first season is expected to include six-episodes with guests like Eboni K. Williams. Episode one will debut on May 9 at 11 p.m. ET, but the trailer will give a taste of the show before it hits air.
