Tennis champion Serena Williams has signed a first-look deal with Amazon Studios, Deadline reported. The 23-time Grand Slam winner is set to work on scripted and unscripted television programs with Amazon that will premiere on Amazon Prime Video exclusively.
According to the outlet’s report, Williams is already working on a docuseries that follows her personal and professional life.
“I’m very excited to be partnering with Amazon Studios –– they are developing some of the most inspiring and important content for a global audience. I have a lot of stories I’m eager to tell, including a continuation of my own, and I look forward to sharing those with the world,” Williams said in a statement.
The venture capitalist boss is set to be one of the executive producers on the projects as well. Williams isn’t new to TV, starring in the HBO docuseries Being Serena in 2018.
Williams made the announcement during a talk with actor Michael B. Jordan viaVanity Fair.
“Serena has transformed her sport and become one of the most inspiring athletes, entrepreneurs and women of her generation, admired not only for her unmatched prowess on the court but for her dedication to advocacy as well,” Amazon Studios Head Jennifer Salke said.
“We’re incredibly excited to share her journey in this new series, and to work with her to create new original content for our Prime Video customers worldwide.”
